LBC’s portfolio management strategy is grounded in being proactive with our portfolio companies and engaging with their management teams, private equity sponsors and key stakeholders. Each member of the portfolio management team is responsible for working directly with these partners and monitoring dynamic financial, operational and transactional information to make strategic decisions that impact our investment performance.
LBC has an exciting opportunity to join its growing portfolio management team in either our Philadelphia area or Chicago office. This is a senior Portfolio Manager position (Team Leader / Director or VP level) that would lead all aspects of managing a private credit portfolio, consisting primarily of unitranche, senior debt and equity co-investments to middle market companies acquired by private equity groups.
The Vice President position requires 7+ years of relevant work experience and would be responsible for managing a portfolio of up to 12 investments with moderate-to-high complexity.
The Director/Team Leader position requires 15+ years of relevant work experience and would be responsible for managing a 3-4-member team of portfolio managers, associates and analysts representing a portfolio of 20-25 portfolio company relationships, including direct responsibility for 6-8 investments with high complexity.
Proactively monitoring a portfolio of private debt and equity co-investments • Performing monthly and quarterly reviews of portfolio company performance, including analysis of financial and operating performance, KPIs, industry trends, credit agreement compliance, cash flow generation, leverage migration, liquidity position and investment management strategy • Analyzing, negotiating and processing amendment and waiver requests • Creating and presenting screening memos for add-on investments and amendments • Presenting investment recommendations and updates to Investment Committee • Interacting with private equity sponsors, senior management teams, other deal team members and third party due diligence providers • Assisting with quarterly valuations, loan syndications, compliance, lender and investor reporting • Managing underwriting processes for amendments and add-on investments • Identifying opportunities to enhance terms, structure and credit profile for existing investments • Negotiating legal documentation with various third parties, including borrowers’ management, financial sponsors, attorneys and co-lenders • Onboarding new investments and coordinating closing and funding processes • Developing and executing strategies for restructurings • Training and mentoring associates and analysts • Contribute to continuous improvements in best practices for investment monitoring and reporting.
Must have strong credit skills, experience in direct lending, leveraged finance or commercial banking, with a thorough knowledge of loan documentation, structuring and portfolio management.
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, formal credit training is a plus.
The ideal candidate for this position will have these key qualifications: experience with middle market LBO financing transactions and cash flow lending, loan structuring & underwriting, credit analysis, loan documentation, experience analyzing financial statements of private, middle market businesses (specifically, companies acquired through LBOs), ability to multitask and meet deadlines, high attention to detail, strong presentation, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), genuine interest in investing in and analyzing different industries, high-level of self-drive and strong work ethic, strong analytical and technical skills, including accounting and financial modeling proficiency, exceptional business acumen and judgment, ability to work in a fast-moving and demanding environment, experience in developing relationships with senior management teams & sponsors, ability to thrive in a team atmosphere and enjoys managing junior resources and serving as a team-player, coach and mentor for analyst and associates.
Proficient with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint; Black Mountain, Bloomberg considered a plus.
